Special Olympics Florida License Plates
NEW! Give a truly "moving" gift! The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Department has authorized the issuance of specialty license plate gift certificates. This new program allows anyone to purchase a specialty license plate as a gift for a motor vehicle registrant. This new gift certificate program works much like any gift certificate. Upon payment of the statutorily authorized annual use fee, a gift certificate may now be purchased at an authorized motor vehicle office (e.g., state motor vehicle office, local tax collector office, or licensed tag agent) for any of the 104 specialty license plates currently available in Florida. At the time of purchase, a receipt will be provided and a credit will be issued in the name of the gift recipient, which can then be redeemed by the recipient at the time the specialty license plate is purchased. You do not have to purchase and redeem the certificate at the same office. The gift certificate is not required to be presented to redeem the credit, just proper identification (i.e. Florida drivers license or ID card). Once a gift certificate is purchased, the money is given to the sponsoring plate entity as specified by Florida Statutes. Therefore, refunds are not available for gift certificates. A specialty license plates is a unique gift, and a great way to support Special Olympics Florida. Please remember that in Florida, most registrations are renewed on the birth date of the registrant, so these gift certificates can also be a great birthday gift.

The Gold, Silver and Bronze GalaThe purpose of the gala is to Entertain, Educate, Enlighten, and Honor while raising funds for Special Olympics Florida. The 5th Annual Gold, Silver & Bronze Gala was held on March 1, 2008 -- sponsored by Westgate Resorts Foundation and hosted by Universal Studios-Orlando.
The real superstars of the evening were the Special Olympics athletes from around the state of Florida that joined us that evening. Each gala table had at least one athlete ambassador and chaperone. It was truly inspiring to listen to the stories about their own triumphs and achievement through Special Olympics.
Publix Super Markets was presented with the 2008 "Spirit of Special Olympics " award.
A special "thank you" goes out to all of our sponsors, patrons, donors, and event volunteers who helped make this Gala a huge success.
