The Lee County Athlete Leadership Programs (ALPs) members meet the second Thursday of each month. Anyone interested in seeing what ALPs is about and/or becoming a member of ALPs are welcome to attend.

Athlete Leaders participated in Tip-A-Cop -- a fund-raising event at Red Lobster with the area's Law Enforcement Agencies, plus attended the Law Enforcement Torch Run events held throughout Lee County.
The ALP’s members completed personalized thank you cards for:
Each law enforcement department participating in the Tip-A-Cop and Torch Run events
Red Lobster for allowing Law Enforcement Agencies to accomplish the Tip-A-Cop event in their restaurant
For any known contributors/donors during the Tip-A-Cop and Torch Run events
For volunteers during the Bowling Area Games
For several agencies and not-for-profit clubs who have made financial gifts to Special Olympics
Athlete Leader William Saliva along with Speech Coach Cynthia Nolin successfully completed Global Messenger Training in April 2008.
Athlete Leader David Latu and Facilator Kate Latu, represented Lee County at Athlete Congress 2007, held at the State Capitol in Tallahassee.

Get Involved!
Mentors: We are currently recruiting mentors to assist in our Athlete Leadership Programs.
Speech Coaches: We are currently recruiting speeech coaches to assist in our Athlete Leadership Programs.
Global Messengers: If you want to be an ambassador and spokesperson for your county, and receive training to enhance your speaking abilities, this program is for YOU!
Athlete Leaders: We are always needing Athlte Leaders to be available for speaking engagements, fund-raising events, competitions, serve as committee members, and to participate on the County Input Council.
Athlete Volunteers: Athletes are always welcome to assist at competitios, family activities, fundraisers, school or agency activities, etc. This is an opportunity for athletes not currently involved in ALPs, to enjoy the ALPs experience.
