Running with the USF Bulls

A huge thanks to the University of South Florida and the USF football team for hosting our athletes at a recent USF Victory Day.

Special Olympics Florida athletes received a jersey and were paired with USF football players for the day. They toured the locker room and checked out the indoor training facility. There was even a chance to work on some drills and run a few plays with the Bulls. And, of course, lots of photo opportunities.

USF went all out to pump up our athletes, inviting members of its cheer squad and its pep band to the event. USF Head Coach Alex Golesh, who was trained as a special education teacher, said both he and his players had a blast meeting and hanging out with our athletes.

“This,” he said, “is my favorite night of the year.”

WFLA 8 covered the event; you can watch its piece here. Check out photos from the day here and here. And here’s the Facebook Reel from USF.
