Recognizing Black Leaders

In honor of Black History Month, Special Olympics Florida athletes are telling us about the Black leaders, mentors, and community members who inspire them. Columbia County athlete Travis Ford chose Barack Obama, the 44^th President of the United States. 

“President Barack Obama is my hero, because he always has a positive attitude and good leadership skills. He ran for president and won – even though some people thought he could not win. He convinced people with his compassion. He is a strong family man and continues to help others and show empathy for them today.”
