A huge thanks to MLS franchise Inter Miami CF for once again showing its commitment to the athletes of Special Olympics Florida.
Earlier this month, Inter Miami CF gave members of our Miami CF Special Olympics Unified Team the honor of being introduced on the field during halftime of Inter Miami’s match against D.C. United. The ceremony was part of MLS’ Soccer For All Week (May 12-23).
The Unified team consists of athletes with and without intellectual and development disabilities (IDD). Inter Miami has supported our Unified team since its creation in 2021.
The Unified team will play other MLS Unified teams at least twice this season. Its first home game is being finalized, but the away game is confirmed for September 10 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The team will begin training in the next few weeks and will soon sign contracts, making them official members of the Inter Miami CF Special Olympics Unified Team.
On June 3, Inter Miami will host a send-off event at DRV PNK Stadium for the Special Olympics athletes heading to Orlando for the 2022 Special Olympics Summer Games. Read more about Inter Miami and Special Olympics Florida here.
