An Amazin’ Day at the Ballpark
In late August, 22 Special Olympics Florida athletes had the unforgettable opportunity to take part in Camp Amazin’, a baseball clinic hosted by the St. Lucie Mets, the minor league affiliate of the New York Mets. A few of our Athlete Leaders – David Helseth, Stephen Lepore, and Carol Marker – were among the athletes participating in the event.
Our athletes spent the morning alongside Mets players and coaches, sharpening their baseball skills and practicing drills – including throwing, fielding, and baserunning. The Mets provided coaching and encouragement throughout the experience. They served as inspiring role models, demonstrating the power of hard work and determination.
The day was a success for both our athletes and Mets players alike. It wasn’t just about skill-building, it was about building confidence, learning teamwork, and making memories to last a lifetime.
Thank you to the St. Lucie Mets for hosting this impactful event!
