Unified Tennis Makes its FHSAA Championship Debut

At the start of the 2023-24 school year, Special Olympics Florida was thrilled to announce that for the first time ever, the Florida High School Athletic Association had added Unified Tennis as a sport for participating high schools.

We had a terrific inaugural season, with four schools signing up to compete: Tavares High School, Eustis High School, and Mt. Dora High School from Lake County, and Lehigh Senior High School from Lee County.

District and regional competitions were held at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, and the state championship matches were held from April 29 – May 3 at Sanlando Park in Seminole County. In Unified Doubles competition, Mt. Dora captured the gold medal, while Lehigh took home the silver.

Participating teams received their medals from FHSAA Tennis Director Corey Sobers, FHSAA Executive Director Craig Damon, and Greater Orlando Sports Commission President and CEO Jason Siegel.

Thanks to everyone who made our first season such a success for our athletes.
