Athlete Gets Tips from Tour Pro

By Delanie Ross / Special Olympics Florida

Special Olympics Florida athlete Ian Kelley recently had the amazing opportunity to meet PGA TOUR golfer Harris English.

Ian, who won a gold medal in golf at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, got some valuable tips from the PGA TOUR pro before the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. The meeting was made possible through the support of our friends at Orlando Health.

For Ian, a Leon County athlete, the time spent with English was unforgettable. The best piece of advice he received from the four-time TOUR winner?

“Don't try to get in your head. If you hit a bad shot, let it go. It's all about being able to have fun but also being the best player you can be.”

Thanks to Orlando Health for creating an incredible experience for one of our athletes. Thanks, as well, to Holiday Inn Club Vacations, who hosted Ian during his stay in Orlando, and to the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and the PGA TOUR.
