Making a Splash at the Swim for Inclusion
Open-water
swimmers from across Central Florida and beyond came to Orlando on
September 21 to be part of Special Olympics Florida’s Swim for
Inclusion.
The
swimmers plunged into Lake Cane – known locally as “Lucky’s Lake” – a
little after 9 a.m. to take on a 1000-meter swim. The event was part of
our Race for Inclusion
campaign, a statewide initiative to support people with intellectual
disabilities and create communities where everyone is treated with
dignity and respect.
We’re
incredibly grateful to the swimmers and to our sponsors and partners
who made it possible: Publix Super Markets, Accenture, Lucky’s Lake
Swim, Orlando Health, Talk of the Town Restaurant Group, Hylant, CHEP,
Sabal Trail Transmission, Orlando City Soccer, and the Orlando Pride.
Special thanks to Special Olympics Florida Hall of Famer John “Lucky”
Meisenheimer for hosting the event for the fourth year in a row.
The 2024 Race for Inclusion continues through mid-December with six other events around the state. Visit RaceforInclusion.org to find a race near you and join the movement!
