Brian West: A Champion of the Special Olympics Florida Movement
The Special Olympics Florida community is heartbroken by the passing of Publix Community Relations Manager Brian West.
Brian was a tireless champion of our movement and a dedicated partner to our athletes. A popular figure with our athletes, he loved meeting them, talking with them, and spending time with them at our events. He was a fixture at our competitions and fundraisers, always prepared to help ensure our athletes had the best experience possible.
“What a kind and generous man, always full of light,” said Special Olympics Foundation President Sherry Wheelock. “His dedication to serving others, his commitment to our athletes, and his endless positivity will forever be embedded in our hearts. I am grateful to have known him and counted him as a friend.”
“Brian was a true humanitarian, someone who was always looking for ways to improve the lives of the people around him,” said Special Olympics Florida President and CEO Meghan McLean. “He has had a remarkable impact on Special Olympics Florida and countless other organizations across the state.”
Brian embodied Publix’s commitment to community and inclusion, ensuring our athletes had the resources, encouragement, and platforms to shine. His impact on our organization and the lives of our athletes will be felt for generations. We are profoundly grateful for his friendship and celebrate his remarkable legacy. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and fellow Publix associates.
