Pasco County Teacher Named Orlando Magic Jr. NBA Coach of the Year

We are so excited to announce that Jessica Hontz has been selected as the 2024 Orlando Magic Jr. NBA Scholastic Coach of the Year!  

The Magic selected two nominees for the Jr. NBA Coach of the Year, one in each of the categories of Scholastic and Community. Jessica, a Pasco County teacher and Special Olympics Florida coach, is nominated for the Scholastic category. 

This award celebrates youth basketball coaches who uphold the game's core values including teamwork, respect, determination, and community. Jessica was selected because of her passion for cultivating a safe and inclusive environment for her athletes to practice sports. 

The Orlando Magic will recognize their nominees for Jr. NBA Coach of the Year Awards at a home game during the 2024-25 regular season. The Jr. NBA Coach of the Year award process goes into the summer months and the winners will be chosen at a national level. National winners are selected from a pool of nominees submitted by NBA, WNBA, and G League teams.
