State Stand Up Paddle Competition
Congratulations to the more than 140 athletes from across Florida who turned out recently for our Stand Up Paddle State Competition. The event was held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, drawing athletes from almost 30 counties. The program has grown significantly over the years – in 2015, about 40 athletes competed – thanks to the support of our incredible volunteers and sponsors like Ron Jon Surf Shop.
Athletes
competed in four separate skill levels across several different events.
For the first time ever, the competition featured preliminary rounds
prior to the finals.
The
two-day competition featured Opening Ceremonies and a Friday night
athlete’s dance. Ron Jon’s once again served as the event’s sponsor, and
Jersey Mike’s provided meals for our athletes. A huge thanks to
everyone who made the event so much fun for our athletes.
